Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is likely to launch only a couple of Watch models this year and that too with existing designs, according to the popular KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who is well known for Apple rumors and forecasts.
In a note to investors, KGI’s top notch analyst revealed that Apple will be launching a Watch model with some minor upgrades over the current model, and the other one will be known as Apple Watch 2 that could boast some new features.
The first model with minor upgrade would come with a better waterproofing tech and a latest processor built by TSMC on the 16nm process. And the second model dubbed as Apple Watch 2 would be featuring a higher capacity battery, barometer and a GPS radio.
If you are expecting a major design change by Apple, at least by 2017, you will be disappointed to know that the new design changes will occur only in 2018’s launch. Next year’s Apple Watch model will be sporting the LTE support along with some minor improvements.
Kuo expected that Apple could reach the 10 million Watch shipments mark in fiscal 2016. Earlier, he predicted around 7 million to 7.5 million Watch shipments by the Cuppertino tech giant. Stay tuned for more update and rumors on Apple Watch.
