WhatsApp officially launched a new WhatsApp Business app which is a free Android app designed for use by small businesses to more easily connect with customers.

WhatsApp Business app released Thursday in select markets including Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the U.K. and the U.S., with more countries coming soon.

The app provides a suite of features such as a quick reply feature and set up frequently asked questions that make it easier for small businesses to communicate with customers. WhatsApp Business also adds features like the ability to get verified business profiles for details like mail address, business description, store addresses, and website; smart messaging tools like greetings and away messages; and metrics for how many messages were sent, delivered, and read.

Even, if you are using a business number and your personal one, you can use both the WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp Messenger apps on the same device and register with your different numbers. It’ll also have WhatsApp Web support, the app’s desktop web browser client.

WhatsApp says business accounts will be listed as “Business Accounts.”  Over time, businesses that have confirmed their account phone number matches their business one will become “Confirmed Accounts.”

Around 80 percent of small businesses in India and Brazil confirmed that WhatsApp helps them communicate with customers and expand their businesses, according to a report. “WhatsApp is king of the messenger apps as it’s the second biggest messaging app in the world” which has 1.2 billion users as of late April. WhatsApp did not mention when or if an iOS version would be available.
