It has long been supposed that the universe has effects of three physical dimensions. Albert Einstein discovered his theory of relativity in 1905 that notified about the effects of fourth dimension, which is based on time and known as dimension of time.

A recent study has shed a new light on the theory of the new special dimension. Two groups of scientists from the USA, Switzerland, Germany, Israel and Italy discovered the new fourth dimension. The findings of the research have been published in the Nature journal.

Mikael Rechtsman, the US-based researcher and assistant physics professor at The Pennsylvania State University said that, “Physically, we don’t have a 4D spatial system, but we can access 4D quantum Hall physics using this lower-dimensional system because the higher-dimensional system is coded in the complexity of the structure. Maybe we can come up with new physics in the higher dimension and then design devices that take advantage the higher-dimensional physics in lower dimensions.”

During the experiment, researchers placed two uniquely designed 2D setups, which gave them a hint of the new fourth spatial dimension. The method is also called the quantum Hall Effect. it is the advanced calculation process that managed to obtain the Nobel Prize in 2016 for physics. The quantum Hall effect is also called the topological phenomenon.

Moreover, Rechtsman stated that the researchers now can attempt developing the new higher dimensional physics and are able to design such systems so that they can be helped by physics of higher dimensional in the lower dimension.
