Courteney Cox, widely famous for her role in the popular TV series FRIENDS (1994) as a stunningly attractive, hyper-organized, lively character named Monica Geller recently confided about regretting undergoing cosmetic surgery which has made her look “horrible”.
The52-year old has been the object of speculation and ‘’pretty mean comments’’ stating that her looks have gone downhill over the years.
Recently while speaking with adventurer Bear Grylls oh his show, Running Wild With Bear Grylls, Courteney admitted that she highly regrets falling into the clutches of ageism. She feels that a lot is expected from a woman in the Hollywood industry, and with age it only gets harder. The actress joked with Grylls saying that if she ever wanted a bad day, all she needed to do was click on “those daily mail comment sections”.
The Scream actress has decided to “give up”and not interfere with the aging process any longer. She continued on to say “I was trying to keep up with getting older and trying to chase that, It’s something you can’t keep up with. The more you relax with it and the less you try…”
Cox confided, “Getting older is not the easiest thing. But I have learned lessons. Sometimes you find yourself trying and then you look at a picture of yourself and you go, ‘Oh god, I look horrible. I have done things that I regret and luckily there are things that dissolve and go away. So that’s good because it’s not always been my best look.”
“So now, I have a new motto,” Courteney said, “Just let it be.”
Despite all this, Courteney doesn’t feel uncomfortable being famous. The “mean comments” are just a part of it she has to live with. She doesn’t feel oppressed by it, she just thinks people go overboard on social media.
She also feels that a few aspects of her life have changed for the better with age. The Cougar town star mentioned, “Certain parts about getting older are fantastic, watching my daughter go through the game of life. She’s just turned 12 and I see so much of myself in her. I’m glad that I’ve been through it and learned enough now to help her go through things that are hard.”
Courteney and her dear friend, Jennifer Aniston, fellow co-star of TV show FRIENDS seem to be vehemently opposed to the ageist discrimination put forward.
Aniston at whose recent wedding with Justin Theroux, Courteney was the maid of honor, recently commented “The objectification and scrutiny we put women through is absurd and disturbing.”
The 2009 Golden Globe awardee who recently got back together with her finance Snow Patrol frontman Johnny McDaid after their “brutal” breakup in December, sees her relationship to be a place to ‘’Let be” as well.
