Gears of War 4 is an upcoming third-person shooter game. It is being developed by The Coalition and will be published by Microsoft Studios. Gears of War 4 will be available for Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It will be the 5th installment in the Gears of War franchise and the 4th main installment.
The game is expected to release on 11th October. Gears of War 4 will also be supporting 4K display and that has added to the excitement. One thing is for sure, it is going to be one of the biggest releases of this year for Microsoft.
Gears of War 4 is set 25 years after the events of Gears of War 3. All the emotion, Lambent and Locust have been destroyed on the planet Sera by the Emulsion Countermeasure. Unfortunately for humanity, it also destroyed all the fossil fuels forcing them to adopt new ways. The countermeasure also created powerful windstorms all across the planet, known as “Wildflares”. The reformed Coalition of Ordered Governments built massive walls around cities to prevent the human population from further declining. The COG also imposed martial law preventing citizens from travelling outside the walls. This didn’t go down well with some survivors who left the cities to go live outside with freedom. These people came to be known as the ”Outsiders”.
We play the game as J.D. Fenix, son of Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud. He is an outsider who, along with his friends regularly conducts raids in the COG territory in order to survive. Pretty soon a new threat pops up and it is up to him and his group to ensure humanity’s survival.
The gameplay is pretty much the same in Gears of War 4 when compared to its prequels. Taking cover, active reloads etc. are retained as it is. One new feature in combat is the Combat Knife; it is mostly used for melee combat. Some really cool, new weapons have been introduced as well. The pick of the lot is Buzzkill that fires ricocheting saw blades. Gears of War 4 also allows players to perform shoulder charges over small distances. The enemies are tougher too, as they can now pull players out of cover and perform their own takedowns.
The one feature that we are really looking forward to is the weather. The weather changes from strong winds to violent category 3 windstorms in a matter of moments. These are said to affect the combat and weapon usage as well as range.
Watched Mad Max Fury Road? Well, that is what the game looks like. Add 4K to this and you are literally looking out of a window. The graphics are so amazing that at times you will want to just pause the game to look at the surroundings. The textures are brilliant, the lightning amazing in fact everything is amazing. The game is a visual delight.
Gears of War 4 was first presented at Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference. The game got an amazing reception and it was called a “monster” when the game tease showing the graphics in 4K was released. The pre orders are at an all time high. Gears of War 4 is being considered the primary reason for skyrocketing sales of Xbox One and Xbox One S
