US Destroyer Sailing Near Disputed Island Making China AngryIn Washington, on Sunday, a statement released by the US defense officials, where it was said that a US destroyer sailing in the South China Sea, which went very near to a disputed island that claimed by three Asian countries. The steps taken to sail by the side is according to the right to passage operation where the US ship passes very close to the disputed island which is administrated by the Chinese government and making them angry too, said officials.

According to the reports, the island is indeed administrated by the Chinese government, but it is also claimed by two other nations, which are Taiwan, and Vietnam, while the Chinese government also claimed Taiwan as its part, but still, these three countries dispute the island. The name of the tiny island is Triton Island, lies in the South China Sea, closer to Vietnam and then Taiwan. It is the US, nowhere in charge of trespassing by China in their territorial waters, when one of the destroyers from the United States came close to just 12 nautical miles from the island coast.

The United States ship USS Stethem is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, which is the thirteenth ship of the class and now based at Yokosuka, Japan, under the US Pacific Fleet.

The US Pacific Fleet didn’t mention anything about the incident, whereas, the China made a long statement on the incident when the US ship USS Stethem went so close to the Chinese settlement on the island, even the US defense officials didn’t mention about the operation.
