Developer Paradox Interactive has released details of their new action RPG Magicka. It’s notable as one of the first games that Paradox Interactive will be releasing on console formats as well as the PC, and it certainly has a much more console look than Paradox’s in depth PC strategy titles.

Here’s the current feature list:

  • Innovative and dynamic spellcasting system with over a million possible combinations
  • Up to four-player co-op in all game modes, as well as a single-player option
  • Fight your way through 13 different levels in the campaign
  • Explore an expansive realm of adventure to defeat the evil wizard
  • Find and unlock challenges, items, and powerful Magicks
  • Experience the parody and satire of a clichéd fantasy world

The game will be released in Q2 2010 and according to the site it will be available digitally rather than through retail channels.

From the few details we’ve got, it looks like a fairly good multiplayer co-op adventure right now. We’re worried about the term parody though. Game writers can’t often get humour out very well, as evidenced recently by games like Borderlands.

The less-than-serious teaser trailer is embedded below.
