Mass Effect 2 might turn out to be one of most popular PC games ever created, but the game isn’t without its technical problems. One of the most common bugs facing players of the PC version affects the games loading times between the decks of the Normandy.

The problem has been found to be related to dual core systems, the very same set-up that BioWare recommend for optimal gameplay.

You could previously solve the problem by switching to running on a single core, but while this fixed the problems with loading times it obviously made the rest of the game run at below peak performance.

A new fix has been released today by Playwrite, using a tool called ‘Mass Affinity’, which solves the issue by switching between single and dual cores as necessary to make the game as playable as possible.

It’s very likely the problem will be fixed officially in the first official Mass Effect 2 patch from BioWare but it’s a shame this one got through the net considering just how widespread the problem seems to be.
