Time has come again to discuss about the most exciting video games rivalry in the first person shooter genre. EA’s Battlefield and Activision’s Call of Duty franchise will battle it out again this year. EA’s Battlefield 1 will take on Activision’s Call of duty Infinite warfare. Battlefield 1 will release on October 21, 2016 while COD Infinite Warfare will release on November 4, 2016.
Both franchises are based on first person military shooting game. COD is known for its fast and fluid gameplay with a great story while Battlefield games are known for their realistic gameplay, engaging multiplayer and stunning visuals. The games have not yet released, so we will only give you a preview about both competitors based on the news, trailers, fan reactions and some gameplay videos.
Battlefield 1 is based during World War 1 and is inspired by true events. It is the first Battlefield game where you will get player choices with alternative endings. Different characters will be playable. COD Infinite Warfare is based on a space war which is set in the future. Infinite Warfare will also have player choices with players taking the control of captain of warship.
The Battlefield 1 will feature the Great War. The environment will be more open than its previous versions. The trailer revealed that the players will control horses, battleships, tanks etc. The gameplay will take place on an epic scale. There will be different types of weapons for assaulting enemies as well as melee combats. In true WW1 fashion you can also attach a bayonet to your gun allowing you to perform a powerful charge attack. The battles will range from tight urban combat in a besieged French city to the heavily defended mountain forts in the Italian Alps.
The gameplay of COD Infinite Warfare is futuristic and now the battle reaches the space. Infinite Warfare will mix traditional shooter mechanics with some vehicular combat, specially piloting spacecraft in epic battles. This successful formula will be accompanied by cool new additions such as a grappling hook and battles across vast spaces dominated by zero gravity. In the initial gameplay videos, the executions in zero gravity look breathtaking.
Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is powered by the IW 7.0 Game Engine. The game will feature high dynamic lightning; improved detailing and the movements look much smoother.
On the other hand, Battlefield 1 is powered by Frostbite 3 Engine. This engine will improve texture resolution, capture minute details and the water effects will look gorgeous too.
After the success of Battlefield 4 multiplayer, EA announced some exciting features of Battlefield 1 multiplayer. There will be 64-Player Multiplayer Battles where players will battle it out as infantry or piloting vehicles ranging from tanks and bikes on the ground to biplanes and gigantic battleships.
Activision will announce the multiplayer features of Infinite Warfare on September so there is not much information about it. The Infinite warfare will also feature a Zombie Mode.
Both Cod Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 look good. But still, Battlefield 1 has an edge over COD due to its stunning visuals and great world war environment. The games are available on pre-order now. Fans look more excited for Battlefield 1 and its trailer and features got great reception. COD Infinite Warfare got to a worst possible start as its trailer got 3 million dislikes and many people criticised it. However, its gameplay looks very fluid with new and improved game mechanics. Die hard COD fans will certainly love it as COD Infinity Warfare can revolutionise the COD franchise. COD Modern Warfare Remastered version will also be available with Infinite Warfare, the Remastered version will have next gen graphics.
Let’s wait for the games to be released to reach a final conclusion.
