Recently Microsoft published an interesting update in the existing Microsoft Services Agreement, particularly the Xbox TnC. The update will also have its effect on Xbox gamers as they are linked to terms and conditions of their favorite console.
One of the most notable changes to the Agreement is that a user is obligatory to sign into Xbox services account at least once in a five-year span. Failing to do so, the user can lose his or her unique gamertag associated with the account. This gamertag will eventually be available for other users.
Xbox TnC Update
According to the updated agreement, it is stated that: “In the Microsoft Account or Skype Account section, we’ve added a requirement that you must sign into the Xbox Services at least once in a 5-year period to keep the Xbox gamertag associated with your Microsoft account. We’ve also added that if your account is compromised, we may be required to disable access to certain content.”
This change is also applicable to the use of Microsoft Account. “You must use your Microsoft account to keep it active. This means you must sign in at least once in a five-year period to keep your Microsoft account, and associated Services, active, unless provided otherwise in an offer for a paid portion of the Services.”
Xbox TnC will bring a lot of revival. Considered as a positive step, this change will bring many inactive users to life and the left out gamertags can be made available again for other Xbox users. For example, if a popular gamertag such as “Darknight001” has been inactive for more than 5 years, other users will have a chance to acquire this gamertag. Microsoft has given 2 months of time for the change to be effective from September 15, 2015.
Set to release in Holiday 2017, Project Scorpio (Codename) is a successor of Xbox one. This powerful 4k compatible machine will eventually be released with these changes in the terms and agreement services.
In addition to this, Microsoft has also added an important clause into its Code of Conduct Section which prohibits a user to post any content related to terrorism.
These changes bring some good news for the gamers who would want to acquire popular tags for their account. Five years is a long time so an active gamer should not be worried about losing one’s gamertag. Please comment below and share your opinion with us on the same.
