Formerly known as Google Inc, Albhabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has made a phenomenal move by deciding to launch their first ever seriously powerful range of smartphones, which is named as “Pixel”. The Pixel brand standing out as a Google product is going to set a whole new level of competition in the electronics market among other manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, and LG. Previously, Google loyalists have been expecting for a new “Nexus” but eventually the situation turned up and Google decided to ditch the Nexus

The famous Nexus launcher from Google has been renamed as the Pixel launcher in the Play Store which was a very straight move from Google indicating that it is no more in collaboration with the Nexus brand.

Pixel and Pixel XL are the two expected smartphones, from Google this year. According to the rumors, the phones have been redesigned with a new logo and they are code-named as- ‘Sailfish’ and ‘Marlin’- respectively.

While coming to the features, reportedly they are being built by Taiwan’s HTC and they will be launched with the brand new Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

Specifications of Google Pixel (probably a sequel of Nexus 5X):

  • 5-inch Full HD display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels)
  • Snapdragon 820 chip
  • 4GB RAM
  • 2770mAh battery
  • Internal storage 32GB/128GB.
  • Two cameras (12- and 8- megapixel)

Specifications of Google Pixel XL (sequel of Nexus 6P):

  • 5-inch Full HD display (2,560 x 1,440 pixels)
  • Snapdragon 821 chip (10 percent boost in the performance of the processor)
  • 4GB RAM
  • 3450mAh battery
  • Internal storage 32GB/128GB.
  • Two cameras (12- and 8- megapixel)

Apart from all these features, the Calendar Icon has also been changed. The newly designed chipset is speculated to be VR ready, which would initially broadcast Google’s daydream project for the “high-density displays” which Google had been planning from earlier this year.  But, reports say that Pixel XL will be launched with 1,440p instead of a 4K display due to issues related to battery consumption.

The estimated cost of Pixel smartphones in the UK and US would be around £349 to £499.

These two phones will be unveiled in the market by October 4, 2016, at a Google press conference and it will be interesting to see how the Pixel brand sets its standards, among other heavyweights of Smartphone manufacturing companies and most importantly how much it satisfies the public.
