Many long time Windows Phone users have been complaining about the missing cloud back up feature for quite some time now. With iOS and Android, you can back up your data to the cloud and the same being missing from Windows Phones did not really make any sense. The users will be able to back up messages and sync it with One Drive on all Windows Phones.Whatsapp update on Windows Phones to bring One Drive back upNow let us address a bigger issue. Although after the latest Whatsapp update for windows phones, the users will be able to back up their data on One Drive, but still there will be three different back up storages for the three different operating platforms. With the next Whatsapp update, there will be iCloud Storage for iOS users, Google Drive for Android Users and One Drive storage for Windows Users. This leads us to a critical scenario of backed up data being unavailable for use in case a user switches from any iOS, Android or Windows.

To be true, it seems like a necessity to have a singular cloud based data storage such that the users are able to get back their data at any point of time they want, even if they are switching devices. Some people have already stated that Facebook and Whatsapp should actually work on creating some sort of internal connection allowing an Android user to get back his data after he makes a switch to let us say Windows or iOS.

In any case, it is good to see that the next whatsapp update will bring in back up feature for Windows users. Although it will take some time for the people to get used to it, but nevertheless, it is a good start.
