It has been 13 years since the beginning of Activision’s Call of Duty franchise. The franchise has given us many memorable first- person military shooters. You may love it or you may hate it, but you can’t deny that this game has given us some great memorable moments.So with a bad Call of Duty game about to be released, we decided to revisit the franchise. After playing all the COD games, we have decided to give our Top 5 games from the action-packed franchise.
5. Modern Warfare III
The game was released in 2011 and it was the final part in the famous Modern Warfare trilogy. There wasn’t any major change in graphics and gameplay from its predecessor Modern Warfare II, but it provided the perfect ending. The great locations and lethal destruction added to the excitement. The multiplayer was improved and was heavily praised. The death of Soap was the most heartbreaking moment in the franchise. The character of the antagonist, Vladmir Makarov was so well written that it really made everyone enraged whenever he used to appear in the game.
4. World At War
This game was based on World War II. Its gameplay was awesome, maps were amazing and it had the best AI among COD games. The combat was realistic and the world war settings looked great. It was the first COD game to have Zombie mode, which added to the fun. It is still rated as the most violent COD ever. The cinematic and narrative provided an atmosphere of patriotism which made the game more emotional.
3. Call Of Duty II
This was the game through which COD took a giant step. The game was released in 2005 and it was the first to release on consoles. The game is set in the Second World War It included 4 individual campaigns split into three individuals. Unlike many games of the similar genre where squad members look useless, COD 2 shows the perfect example of how you can use your squad members effectively. The grenade icon and health regeneration were introduced in this game. The game received positive reviews all over the world.
2. Black Ops
This game was a gem. It had the best storyline and narrative in the franchise. The game is set in the period of cold war. The graphics, level design and the narrative were awesome. The voice acting was very well done. In this game, you took control of Alex Mason, who is a SAD operative. It really felt like a movie. The multiplayer was great and the zombie mode was improved. The Nuketown mode was one of the most played out mode in the franchise. It received many awards and received a standing ovation from everyone.
1. Modern Warfare
It was very difficult to choose between Black Ops and Modern Warfare for the number 1 spot, but we decided to go for Modern warfare. The 2007 first-person shooter was a game changer; it provided a new dimension and direction to the franchise. It showed us how a military game should be made. The gameplay was fluid, gunplay was superb, the graphics were good and the story was very gripping. It gave us some interesting characters. Its multiplayer was like a breath of fresh air. The atomic blast and the final kill in the bridge were the best moments. The stealthy mission in Azerbaijan was the best COD mission till date. It received VGX award for Best Shooter. It will be released for next-gen consoles in November.
