Instagram enables screenshot alert feature designed to notify people when someone takes screenshot of the stories posted by them. Users participated in the testing of this feature are receiving a warning message that “Next time you take a screenshot or screen recording, the person who posted the story will be able to see.”
However, the people who participated in testing that shows who has taken a screenshot of their posted story with the help of clicking on the list of story’s viewers and noticing a new camera shutter sign right next to any user who has taken a screenshot of their story of picture.
Moreover, the new feature shows that creators will not receive that specific message notifying them about someone taking a screenshot of photos and stories, while they will just able to see the notification within the list of their story viewers.
Instagram has acknowledged in a statement saying that, “we are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you.”
The company is performing this new test that’s more likely intended to check if the new feature has any perceptible effects on user engagement, before resolving whether or not Instagram will be rolling out it to all the users. The feature if rolled out, it would intrinsically align Instagram with Snapchat in order to see how the platform tackles with screenshots.
