Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced on Sunday night that they are “legally separating” after eight years of marriage. Their son, Jack, now 4, was born in August 2012. He arrived nine weeks premature and spent a month in the NICU.

The beloved couple met in 2007 while filming the movie “Take Me Home Tonight.” The two got engaged in 2008 and wed in 2009.

Pratt wrote in a joint statement shared on Facebook on Sunday. “We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed.

“Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.” The statement continued, “We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”

A similar statement was tweeted from Faris verified account late Sunday night.

The Jurassic World actor, who made the leap to international superstar with Guardians of the Galaxy and The Lego Movie in 2014, has been filming Jurassic World 2 and promoting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 over the last year.

Faris, stars in the US sitcom Mom, hosts the podcasts AnnaFarisIs Unqualified, and was recently a voice actor on TheEmojiMovie.

Last December, the actress opened up on an episode of her podcast, Anna Faris Is Unqualified, about “feeling so hurt” by rumors regarding her marriage.

“I think it was a combination of things. I take pride in how great my relationship is with Chris, but having said that, of course in this crazy world where he’s off doing movies and I’m in L.A. raising our child, of course I’m going to feel vulnerable, like any normal human would,” she told her pal and actress Isla Fisher on the show.
