It’s confirmed that the Korean Smartphone-maker Samsung will be revealing its upcoming smartwatch, most probably Samsung Gear S3 in its IFA 2016 event. The company has already begun to send invites for the event and the invite image itself teased the launch of something related to the watch.
The press conference by Samsung at the IFA 2016 event will be held on Thursday, 1st September at 11am. Earlier, There were a few rumors that suggest Samsung would be launching Gear S3 smartwatch at IFA in September. The rumors revealed that the next generation smartwatch by Samsung would sport a sleek rotary bezel just like its Gear S2.
As you can see in the above image, Samsung hasn’t revealed anything about its product lineups to be revealed at the IFA event. Only the traditional watch hands have been placed on top of the text of the invite, which hints at a smartwatch launch.
We have already expected an upgraded Gear smartwatch model will debut at September’s event, as in 2015, at Berlin’s IFA event, Samsung unveiled Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic wearables. In 2014, at IFA event, Samsung showed off Gear S for the first time. It’s possible that the company could launch 2 variants of smart wearables this year too.
There is a rumor that suggests Samsung could launch a luxurious variant of Samsung Gear S3 by de Grisogono by collaborating with the Swiss jeweler de Grisogono. This luxurious smartwatch is expected to be launched in March 2017 at the World Watch and Jewelry Show.
Let’s come to the rumors and leaked specifications of regular Gear S3 smartwatches. The new wearable would feature a new range of sensors like speedometer, barometer, altimeter and an integrated GPS. However, the company is allegedly retaining the same overall design with rotating bezel functionality, despite having more advanced features in the device.
It would be a bad news for Android lovers as Samsung would not jump to Android Wear, instead it will rely on its own updated version of Tizen OS on Gear S3, just like it did with Gear S2. We are not able to match the speed and app support of Android Wear with Tizen OS. Still, we don’t know what Samsung has cooked for us, we will have to wait three more weeks to know the improvements and new announcements.
